Direct services between Darwin and Bali will commence 22 March 2025 with three direct flights per week, offering a world of great value travel across Asia and beyond.


Indonesia AirAsia is set to reconnect the Northern Territory with Asia, resuming three direct flights per week between Darwin and Bali from 22 March 2025. Tickets are on sale now, with fares starting from just AUD $189. 



The new services will bring over 1,000 visitor seats weekly through Darwin International Airport and Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, providing a significant boost to tourism and the local economy. These flights also open seamless and affordable connectivity to and from Darwin via Bali, making travel to other Asian destinations more accessible than ever.

 

Indonesia AirAsia CEO Veranita Yosephine said the airline is thrilled to return to the Territory bringing more value and choice for consumers in the Top End of Australia.


“Bali is now our largest hub in terms of flight capacity, driven by strong demand. These direct flights will cater to the enduring popularity of Bali as a destination for Australians and offer great low fare connections to over 130 destinations across the AirAsia Group network,” Veranita said.


“Passengers from Darwin can enjoy seamless connections via Bali to destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong and Komodo Island starting from as low as under AUD $300.”

“At the same time, millions of guests from across Asia will be welcomed to the Northern Territory. They will discover the extraordinary culture, wildlife and natural beauty of Kakadu National Park, Arnhem Land and other iconic locations where the tropics meet the outback.”

Airport Development Group Executive General Manager Sandra de Kock welcomed AirAsia back to Darwin, highlighting the strong local demand for travel to Bali.

Bagus Hendraning Kobarsih, Consul (Head of Post), Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia (Northern Territory)  said the establishment of a new direct flight route between Denpasar and Darwin by AirAsia marks a strategic initiative that is expected to have a positive impact on connectivity, particularly in strengthening people-to-people ties and enhancing the long-standing historical relationship between Indonesia and the Northern Territory.


“This air connectivity will facilitate the growth of two-way tourism, foster deeper people-to-people interactions, and is anticipated to ultimately create new business opportunities between Indonesia and the Northern Territory,” Bagus said.


“With promising passenger forecasts, this route is expected to contribute to the achievement of Indonesia's tourism targets, as well as enhance bilateral trade transactions and investment flows between the two nations.”

 

Northern Territory Minister for Trade, Business, and Asian Relations  Hon Robyn Cahill, OAM  celebrated AirAsia’s return.
